Tip Tuesday: How to Rock a Bold Lip

Don’t store away your favorite bold lipstick just yet! You can still rock your favorite bold lips even during the spring and summer months. I love bold lips. They help to dress up or face when you don’t feel like doing the whole makeup shebang. Put on a bold lipstick and you are out the door. However, there are some steps to consider before you start applying your favorite bold lip color.

Here are my tips and tricks on rocking a bold lip:

1) Prep your lips

Just like wearing any lip products, you need to prep your lips first before applying lipstick. If you have dry, chapped lips, you should exfoliate them regularly to remove the dry skin and keep them soft. After you exfoliate, apply your favorite lip balm and let the product sink into the skin for about 5 to 10 mins. Drinking lots of water also helps to prevent your lips from getting dry.

2) Line your lips

Wipe the remaining lip balm off your lips before you start lining your lips with a lip liner. Use a lip liner that is as close to the lip color that you will be wearing. Trace your lips carefully and fill in the corners of your mouth. If you have thinner lips, it is fine to over lined your lips but do it subtly. Wearing a lip liner will also ensure that the lipstick you put on top of it will last longer.

3) Pick your lip color

After lining your lips, pick your lip color. Make sure the color you pick for your lipstick matches or is as close to the lip liner you wear. Use a lip brush to apply your lipstick. You’ll have more control around the corners and avoid making mistakes.

4) Blot and reapply

Use a 2-ply tissue paper and peel off one piece and put it over your lips. Brush a little bit of loose powder over your lips and reapply your lipstick again. Repeat the process one more time. I know I’ve said that using a lip liner will help your lip color stays on longer, this will help the lip color stays on your lips longer too and helps to prevent any transfers onto the skin. You can skip this step if you don’t feel like doing it.

5) Concealer

After applying your lip color, take a clean angle brush or a concealer brush and clean any smudges or mistakes that you’ve made when applying your lipstick. It also makes your lips look nicely shaped and make them appear pouty.

I do not wear lipstick on the daily, but when I do, I like my lip color to stay on through out the day. You don’t have to necessary just follow these steps when apply a bold, brighter lip, you can do it too with your everyday nudes and pinks. I hope this is useful and thanks for reading!XOXO
