Tip Tuesday: DIY Sugar Scrub

Happy Tuesday!

For the past couple of months, I’ve been experiencing severe dryness on my lips and it is chapping really badly. I would constantly apply lip balm every 10 minutes and it seemed like it doesn’t do anything for my lips. I tried using Vaseline too which is good in helping to heal dry skin but to no avail. So I decided to stop being lazy and consult the internet for solutions to combat dry lips.

Years ago, my best friend gave me the Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub for my birthday and I love it. Even though it feels and taste good, one thing I do not like about it was, it hardens and was difficult to get the product out. Feeling really inspired by the Lush lip scrub, I’ve decided to make my own. It is very easy and all the ingredients you might already have in your pantry.

Ingredients are:

  • 1 Tsp brown sugar
  • 1 Tsp white sugar
  • 1 Tsp honey
  • 1/2 Tsp Olive Oil

Mix it all in a cup and put in a container.

Apply onto lips and rub the scrub for 1 to 2 mins. Rinse it of (or you could lick it if you want too).

And there you have it! Soft and supple, chapped free lips!

There are many versions and flavors of DIY lip scrubs on the internet, but I chose this easy and all natural lip scrub because of the benefits and properties of the ingredients use. Here is why:

  • White sugar helps to hydrate the skin and keep the moisture within. It has Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) that penetrates the skin and breaks the substance that bond cells, encouraging cell turnover, generating younger looking skin.
  • Brown Sugar has anti-bacterial properties in it.
  • Honey helps to absorb and retain moisture in the skin.
  • Olive Oil acts as a natural moisturizer and also helps to stimulate the healing of the skin.

I love my homemade lip scrub and I’ve been using it twice a day. To all my girls out there who are experiencing the same problem, give this a try and let me know what you think about it! Thanks for reading!XOXO ❤
