Tip Tuesday: Makeup Bag Essentials

Hey everyone!

How’s your day going? Have you guys started Xmas shopping already? I can’t believe all the pre Black Friday sales there are out there, and I’m suspecting my bank account would not be happy at all with me this month and probably the next. #firstworldproblems. One of the big sales that just went on over the weekend was the Sephora VIB Sale where you get 20% of your purchase. Which is good because Sephora has a lot of gift kits from makeup to skincare and fragrances, perfect for everyone and anyone. If you missed the VIB Sale, I think Sephora has another one coming in December, so be sure to keep a look out for that and I probably would do a post about it sometime in the future. 🙂

On this week’s Tip Tuesday, I want to share with some of my essential items I would carry with me in my makeup bag. I used to stuff my makeup bag with lots of makeup and it always end up so bulky and would be too big to put in my purse even. So, after 5 years of wearing makeup and lugging around a bulky makeup bag, I decided to go through my makeup bag and only have the very basics and the essentials that I need in my makeup bag. I would constantly rotate and change the items in my bag depending on my makeup that day. Keep on reading, and I will share with you what’s in my makeup bag currently.

I always have a compact powder of some sort in my makeup bag. A translucent powder is ideal because you could use that to blot your face when it gets oily without adding more color because, it could look cakey. I always put on my face makeup before I leave the house so no need to bring a foundation in your bag. But, if you’re someone who would like a bit more coverage in your powder, the Maybelline Dream Wonder Powder is my favorite. It’s finely milled and gives a flawless finish.

Next on my list are concealers. I feel like it it necessary to have a concealer in your makeup bag. It could instantly freshen and brighten up your face easily after a long day. You could use it to cover blemishes or get hide the redness around your nose and mouth. I have two different types of concealers, one is a medium coverage concealer perfect for the under eyes like the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer, and the other one is a highlighting concealer here. Both are my essentials for a more fresh face makeup look under 5 minutes.

Not forgetting, you would also need a big fluffy brush in your makeup bag that would be used to apply your powder or a blush and bronzer if you have that too. I like the Sigma F30 powder brush from the Mrs Bunny Travel Kit.

Of course, the most must have item in every girl’s makeup bag is mascara. Enough said. Try the Loreal Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara.

An eyebrow pencil here, is necessary for me because I have thin eyebrows and they would rubbed off throughout the day. Therefore, it’s always handy to have one in case you need to fill them in again.

A brown eyeliner like the Stilla Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in Espresso is more subtle than a black one and it’s perfect for that light smokey effect.

Having an eye palette is not really necessary, but if I need some color on my lids, I like this trio from Wet and Wild because It has all neutral colors perfect for an everyday wear. Don’t forget your blending brush.

I always change my lipsticks in my makeup bag. Again, depending what I am wearing on that day. I always have a nude lipstick with me and also a neutral color lip liner. These colors usually match with anything.

I hope you find this helpful. If you are a beginner and wondering how to start your makeup bag, you could use this for reference and start with the basics. It’s always a good idea to have the basics down and from there you could decide what you want to add or remove in your bag. This is also perfect for you busy girls out there because you could do your makeup with all the basic items just under 10 minutes.

Thanks for reading and have a good one!XOXO ❤
