It’s maxi dress season! One of the things I love about the summer time is that I get to wear flowy maxi dresses. Maxi dresses are a staple in my closet and every summer, I would look for new ones to add to my collection. That said, I don’t spend a lot of money on it, because I can get cute and trendy dresses at affordable prices (i.e Forever21). But, if you have the luxury to spend a little bit more on maxi dresses, I advise that you invest on a few basic pieces and a couple of fun ones too. Maxi dresses are so easy to wear, because you could just chuck it on and you have an outfit in an instant.
I got this pretty blue number from Boohoo a while back ( only petite sizes available now), and I love the cut out details in the midsection, and it has an open back. I got so many compliments wearing this dress. The only downside to this dress is that, it’s very long on me (even at 5ft 4) and I kept stepping on my dress while walking. But that’s fine with me, because with some sky high wedges it would be perfect.
Like every season, I always switch up my beauty routine and include additional products that would cater to my skin and the weather. I don’t like wearing a lot of makeup in the summer, so I usually have little or nothing at all on my face except for sunscreen and moisturizer. For the past few years since I experienced summer, I have a few favorite products that I can’t live without, and I have narrowed it down to my top 5 beauty products for the summer.
- BB/CC Creams or Tinted moisturizers
I am not a huge fan of wearing full coverage foundations in the summer, unless the occasion calls for it, then yes! BB creams or tinted moisturizer are my best friend because it provide subtle coverage, and it’s not as heavy as foundations. It usually has spf in it so that’s a plus. My current favorite is the bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream And if you need extra coverage, then that’s what concealers are for.
I know, I know… You should always wear sunscreen not just during summer, but throughout the year and seasons. But, I always opt for a sunscreen with higher spf in the summer for extra protection. The Innisfree Eco Safety Daily Sunblock has been my go to for a couple years, because it’s light and doesn’t leave a greasy feel on my skin.
3. Waterproof Mascara
I don’t like wearing waterproof mascara, because I feel like the formula is dry compared to non waterproof formulas. I haven’t found a waterproof mascara that I like, until recently. I heard so much good things about the Loreal Miss Manga Voluminous, so I decided to try it…in waterproof. This mascara is awesome! It keeps my lashes curled all day and there’s not a trace of smudge, even when I’m at the pool sun bathing!
4. Shimmering Bronzers
Oh, how I love bronzers! Especially shimmering bronzers for the summer. I love adding that extra glow on my skin because it makes your skin look really healthy and you’ll look like you have a glow from within. I love using the Milani Baked Bronzer on my cheeks, collar bone and also my shoulders if I’m wearing dresses or tops that showed them off, and I use The Body Shop Honey Bronze Shimmering Dry Oil on my legs and arms over my tan so I’ll be glowing like a JLO! 😉
5. Facial Spray
Keeping facial spray in my purse have been a habit of mine since I’ve been living in Singapore for 20 years of my life. Singapore is so humid, and they only way I refresh my skin is to use facial sprays or facial mist. Though Northern Virginia’s humidity is not as bad as Singapore, I still consider it an essential to my summer must have. My favorite one that I’ve been using for a few years now is Mario Badescu Facial Spray. It’s so refreshing, and smells like roses! Here are some other alternatives if you don’t like roses. ( Evian Mineral Spray, Caudalie Beauty Elixer)
As always, thanks for reading loves and have a great day!XOXO ❤
