Dewy, Glowy Summer Skin

Happy Tuesday!

One of the things I love about summer time is that summer glow! I love the super sun-kissed tan skin from the summer sun because it makes you look healthy and fresh. Being pregnant and all, I don’t get to tan as much as I used too just because my skin is even more sensitive to sun exposure, and if I do go to the pool I wear SPF 50 and won’t stay by the pool for over an hour. Haha!

When the weather is scorching 90 degrees out, I stay away from wearing too much makeup just because I don’t want my makeup melting off my face (though there are tons of waterproof makeup in the market now). I love the lighter, fresh faced, glowy look for the summer, and that’s what today’s post is all about. This is a perfect everyday look, and you could achieve this look in 15 minutes or less. I’m gonna share with you how I achieve my dewy, glowy skin makeup look and the products I used! Let’s get to it!

First things first, I keep my skin hydrated before I start doing my makeup. After applying my moisturizer, I apply a couple drops of face oil on the high points of my face for that extra glow.

For my base, instead of using a face primer I’m loving using the BareMineral Complexion Rescue. It’s like a tinted moisturizer and does not have any coverage, but it does even out the skin. If I have a liquid highlight, I would add it to my tinted moisturizer for more glow.

When I need more coverage, I use a concealer on my problem areas, but today I decided to put a bit of foundation just to achieve a more flawless finish. I just use a small amount and dot it all over the problem areas which is usually on my chin, around the nose and my cheeks.

Now that we have the base done, I love to highlight my under eyes with a hydrating concealer because of it’s dewy finished. You know my go to, and I’ve shown it multiple times on here.

Apply concealer in a triangle shape under your eyes and concentrate most of the product on the high points of the cheeks, the bridge of your nose, forehead and chin. These are the areas where the sun naturally hits!

Set the areas you apply concealer with powder, but not the rest of the face because we want to keep our face as dewy as possible.

Next up, is bronzing the face. I never skip this part because bronzer adds color back to your face. I usually go a little heavy handed with the bronzer when I’m tan though…. just cuz! Don’t forget to apply it down to your neck as well!

So this part is not necessary, but I like adding more glow to the skin by using another bronzing product that has shimmer in it. I like the Milani Baked Bronzer in Soleil and use that as a bronzer topper, but today I’m using the bronzy golden shade in the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette for that shimmery bronzy glow.

This final step of the look is to add more glow! Yes, it seems like it’s too much but the highlight I’m using is really subtle and you can keep building the intensity up.

Apply some setting spray and you’re good to go!

Hope you enjoy this super easy dewy makeup look! I love how this turned out and you could definitely switch up the products to your liking! If you want to see an all drugstore glowy makeup look, let me know in the comment section below and I’d be happy to do so. There are so many highlighting products at the drugstore right now and I would love to do some looks with it.

Thanks for reading and see you in my next post!XOXO ❤

  1. Gorgeous look! The bronzer shade really complements your skin tone. I would love to achieve a look that glows like this, but I have pretty oily skin and just can’t seem to make it happen yet!

I also have a question about the oil you used before applying primer. I know that there is an oil craze going on right now in the beauty world, and I’m not exactly sure what the benefits are. Is it meant to immediately make your skin appear more dewy and hydrated, or are there long-term effects of using these oils as well?

    1. Hi Alison,
Glad you like my makeup look! Even for someone who has oily skin, you could achieve the dewy look. Just apply matte primer all over your t-zone first before you proceed, since the t-zone are the areas where it gets oily really quickly.

For the oil, I usually use it as a all over face moisturizer since I have dry skin. But during the summer time, I switch my oil moisturizer to something with a gel consistency since it’s lighter, and only apply a couple drops of face oil on really dry areas which usually is on the high points of my cheeks. I feel that face oil tends to be more hydrating for dry skin and makes the skin looks plumper. I’ve heard that people with oily skin do use face oils too, because it tricks the skin to produce less natural oils on the face.

      1. Okay, did not know this! I always just stay away from anything oily (especially in the summer time) because it will melt off of my face. But I guess just applying it to the driest areas and using a matte primer in my t-zone would work. Thank you!
